D-LINK ANZ TEAMS UP WITH MCAFEE FOR NEW D-FEND AC2600 WI-FI ROUTER

By

22 March 2019

D-Link ANZ has launched its new D-Fend AC2600 Wi-Fi Router (DIR-2680), an all-in-one solution powered by McAfee and Intel’s connected home technology, that has unparalleled parental controls whilst increasing security for devices on any home network.

Key features

  • Comprehensive parental controls via the D-Fend1 app including creating user profiles, setting age-appropriate content, blocking websites and categories, Internet curfews, permission requests to visit select websites and pausing Internet access.
  • End-to-end protection with the McAfee Secure Home Platform2 that protects every device connected to your network.
  • Wireless traffic is fully offloaded to the Intel Home Wi-Fi Chipset WAV500 Series, so that the Intel AnyWAN SoC – the primary computing engine in the router – is freed up for software and security functions.
  • Installations of McAfee LiveSafeTM Internet security software3 for your computers, tablets and smartphones included.
  • 802.11ac delivers fast wireless connectivity with increased range and reliability.
  • Command D-Fend and your router’s functionality with your voice through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

Offering comprehensive parental control features allowing customised protection for each child in the home including blocking of websites and age-inappropriate content, applying Internet curfews, as well as ‘on-demand’ pausing of Internet access to either individual children, or all of them, the D-Fend AC2600 Wi-Fi Router is a parent’s new best friend.

D-Link ANZ MD Graeme Reardon said, “The new D-Link D-Fend Wi-Fi router is one of our most significant products released to date. With a unique set of parental controls, parents can now set profiles for each child to manage the content available to them, as well as have the ability to pause Internet access whenever they wish. As a father of young children myself, being able to simply hit pause on my phone to bring an end to their latest video game or their YouTubing to simply get them to the dinner table on time, is fantastic. At the same time, knowing that our kids, our sensitive data, and our devices are protected by McAfee from malicious attacks, malware, botware and viruses is incredibly valuable.”

McAfee’s CTO of APAC, Ian Yip said, “At McAfee, we believe it’s important to partner with industry leaders, and that’s why we’ve chosen to partner with D-Link to help drive a security by default mindset towards connected devices.”

“D-Link is a leader in connected home solutions, and the D-Fend AC2600 Wi-Fi Router with McAfee’s Secure Home Platform built-in represents a strategic partnership that will allow us to provide simpler and stronger connected home security for Australians.”

Whilst the number of connected devices in the home is skyrocketing – from tablets and gaming consoles, to IP surveillance cameras, smart door locks, and more – by 2020 Gartner estimates there will be 20 billion connected things, and their role and influence are set to dramatically increase over the next 10 years1. They’ve also raised a new crop of security issues, as Internet of Things (IoT) devices are subject to attacks just like any other connected device like a PC or smartphone. The new D-Fend AC2600 Wi-Fi Router protected by the McAfee Secure Home Platform helps secure all connected devices at the network level in a home, including non-display IoT devices, providing an additional layer of protection from potential hackers and for members of the home using devices and accessing online content.

D-Link’s latest offering increases security for devices on the home network and delivers on both companies’ vision to address the pressing need for online security as people’s lives become increasingly connected. The comprehensive solution includes D-Link’s high-performance dual-band 802.11ac router with MU-MIMO technology that enhances network capacity and efficiency for users, McAfee Secure Home Platform that protects all devices connected to the network, and the Intel Home Wi-Fi Chipset WAV500 Series to deliver robust Wi-Fi connectivity to numerous connected devices at the same time, running a range of high-bandwidth applications.

McAfee’s Global Threat Intelligence features adaptable machine learning that protects by preventing, detecting, and correcting malicious malware and attacks, which enables a safer Internet browsing experience for consumers. Designed for families and smart home owners looking for the ultimate in home networking without sacrificing privacy and security, the DIR-2680 keeps connected devices safer from unwanted intrusions and thefts. Just as importantly, the comprehensive parental control features provide customised protection for children in the household. The DIR-2680 is easily set up with the D-Link Wi-Fi app and can be managed from anywhere with the accompanying D-Fend app and can also be voice-controlled via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
