JANDS PRODUCTION SERVICES CEO HONOURED

Eric Robinson, CEO of JPJ Audio and Jands Production Services, has been named as the recipient of this year’s Sue Nattrass Award for his long-standing commitment to the live performance industry in Australia. The award will be presented at the 15^th annual Helpmann Awards on the set of Cameron’s Mackintosh’s new production of Les Misérables at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre on July 27.

Making the announcement, Live Performance Australia’s (LPA) chief executive Evelyn Richardson said it was an honour to bestow the prestigious award to such a worthy recipient.

”Mr Robinson is a true asset and source of inspiration to so many within the live performance industry,” Richardson said. “Mr Robinson has long been at the forefront of live production innovation and is admired and respected by his peers for his enviable reputation for technical excellence, reliability, safety, business acumen, and endeavour for perfection. His experience encompasses every aspect of sound reinforcement, lighting, rigging, large screen projection and special effects, and Mr Robinson takes great personal pride in ensuring every production runs smoothly.”

Robinson has been responsible for the technical production management and staging of some of Australia’s most admired events and festivals throughout his 45 year career, from early tours by Elton John and Fleetwood Mac in the 1970s, to major outdoor events such as Big Day Out and theatrical productions including Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King.

But it’s his company’s in-house training scheme that he considers one of his greatest achievements: “The training programme has been running for over 25 years and our staff are recognised globally for their technical prowess and professionalism,” Robinson said.

“For many years I have had the privilege of working in a role I genuinely love and to be recognised by my peers and the live performance industry as the recipient of the Sue Nattrass Award is extremely humbling.”

The Sue Nattrass Award was established in 2014 to recognise achievements in service roles in the live performance industry. It commemorates the lifetime service of Sue Nattrass AO, a long-serving LPA president and the first woman to hold this position. Patricia Boggs received the inaugural honour last year for her lengthy and influential career as a ticketing consultant.

The full programme for this year’s Helpmann Awards, including award category nominees, will be announced in June.
