HARMAN Professional Solutions announced the expansion of the JBL Professional VTX Series with the introduction of the VTX B35 and VTX B35G compact cardioid subwoofers. Designed to deliver controlled low-frequency coverage in applications where traditional cardioid subwoofer arrays are difficult to deploy, the new subwoofers combine low-frequency control with a compact, deployment-friendly form factor. Mechanically compatible with VTX A12, the VTX B35 enables clean mixed-array configurations while expanding the VTX Series ecosystem with flexible low-frequency solutions for touring and fixed installation applications.

“B35 gives system designers and rental providers a more practical way to achieve low-frequency control in environments where conventional cardioid arrays are difficult to deploy,” said George Georgallis, Director of Product Management, Performance Audio at HARMAN Professional Solutions. “Additionally, the ability to fly B35 directly above VTX A12 arrays provides new deployment flexibility for A12 systems, particularly in applications where space for ground-stacked subwoofers is limited or unavailable.”

VTX B35 integrates cardioid behaviour into a single-enclosure design that reduces rearward energy while keeping low-frequency coverage focused on the audience. By eliminating the need for additional rear-facing cabinets, complex array spacing, or field-built subwoofer configurations, the B35 simplifies deployment and provides a practical solution for productions and installations where space, trim height, rigging capacity, or architectural constraints limit traditional cardioid subwoofer approaches.

At the core of the system are three JBL Differential Drive 15-inch woofers arranged in a front-rear configuration, with two forward-facing drivers and one rear-facing driver. Each section is powered independently via dedicated amplifier channels and optimized presets, resulting in predictable cardioid directivity. With extension down to 32 Hz and a high output-to-size ratio, the VTX B35 delivers powerful low-frequency performance while maintaining a compact footprint suited for touring productions, festivals, arenas, houses of worship, performance venues, and fixed installations.

The VTX B35 is mechanically compatible with VTX A12 line arrays, enabling clean mixed-array configurations with A12 suspended directly below B35 without requiring adapter frames. The B35 also integrates with the VTX A12 rigging accessories, including the new A12 Array Frame and current A12 Suspension Bar, supporting flown, standalone, and hybrid deployment configurations across touring and installed applications. The B35G provides the same acoustic design and performance, but omits touring-style rigging, making it well-suited for ground-stacked-only applications or fixed installations.

The VTX B35 Series integrates with the complete JBL software ecosystem, including Venue Synthesis, Array Link, and Performance Manager, enabling system designers to streamline prediction, deployment, optimization, and system control workflows within a single ecosystem. Integrated subwoofer array tools, including the Electronic Delay Steering (EDS) calculator, enable rapid optimization of large, distributed subwoofer arrays.

FEATURE HIGHLIGHTS:

INTEGRATED CARDIOID CONTROL

The VTX B35 uses a fixed cardioid architecture with three JBL Differential Drive 15-inch woofers arranged in a front-rear configuration. Two forward-facing drivers and one rear-facing driver are powered independently using dedicated Crown I-Tech HD amplifier channels. Optimized presets create predictable rear rejection and forward-focused low-frequency energy without requiring additional subwoofer cabinets or complex deployment techniques.

PRACTICAL SOLUTION FOR CONSTRAINED DEPLOYMENTS

VTX B35 delivers built-in cardioid performance in a compact, purpose-designed enclosure, making it well-suited for productions and installations where stage space, trim height, under-stage height, rigging capacity, transport space, or architectural sightlines limit traditional multi-cabinet cardioid array configurations.

DESIGNED FOR VTX SYSTEMS

The flyable VTX B35 integrates mechanically with VTX A12 line arrays and existing VTX rigging accessories, supporting mixed‑array, flown, and hybrid deployments. Compatibility with all VTX Series base plates also enables ground‑stacked configurations alongside VTX A‑Series line array products. Acoustically, B35 works seamlessly with all VTX full‑range systems and other VTX B‑Series subwoofers, allowing multiple subwoofer types and configurations to be combined within a single system.

TWO MODELS, ONE ACOUSTIC PLATFORM

The VTX B35 includes full touring-style rigging for maximum deployment flexibility and system integration, while the B35G includes 16× M10 Quick Link™ eyebolts for fixed installations and ground-stacked applications. Both models share the same acoustic design, amplifier presets, performance characteristics, and simple NL4 wiring, providing flexibility across all applications.

SOFTWARE-INTEGRATED WORKFLOW

VTX B35 integrates with the full JBL software ecosystem, including Venue Synthesis, Array Link, and Performance Manager, streamlining system prediction, mechanical validation, deployment planning, tuning, monitoring, and control workflows across JBL VTX Series systems.

PROFESSIONAL BUILD QUALITY

Constructed from outdoor-grade Baltic birch plywood and finished with JBL’s proprietary, impact-resistant DuraFlex coating, the B35 is engineered for the most demanding touring and installation environments. Stainless-steel grilles, corrosion-resistant hardware, and an IP55 rating ensure long-term reliability indoors and outdoors. All models are backed by JBL Professional’s 5‑year warranty.
