Amber Technology has announced the availability of two new Philips gaming projectors in Australia and New Zealand, including the GamePix 900 and GamePix 800 Smart projector. The launch of the two projectors sets new standards for brightness and smart entertainment, following Philips’ entry into the gaming market in late 2024.

Philips’ breakthrough GamePix 900 gaming projector delivers an immersive big-screen gaming experience previously unavailable at this price point. The GamePix 900 weighs just 2kg and maintains a portable form factor despite its powerful capabilities, making it perfect for gaming setups in any room or for taking to friends’ houses for multiplayer sessions.

The GamePix 900 supports both 4K resolution at 60 Hertz (Hz), referring to the display refresh rate of 60 times per second, and full high definition (HD) at an impressive, esports-level of 240 Hz or 120 Hz, with three dedicated gaming presets: Action Gaming (optimises dark scenes for a competitive advantage in esports); Adventure Gaming (enhances the contrast and high dynamic range (HDR) reproduction for epic, story-driven gaming scenes); and Sports Gaming (supports more vivid colours for racing and sports titles).

The GamePix 900 has incredibly low input lag of just 6 milliseconds (ms) in 240 Hz mode which translates every button press into instant on-screen action. The projector’s advanced digital light processing (DLP) technology ensures crisp, vibrant visuals across its expansive 120-inch maximum display size, while HDR10 support brings out every detail in dark scenes and bright explosions alike. Additionally, a built-in speaker provides powerful audio for an all-in-one gaming solution.

The heart of the GamePix 900 is its Texas Instruments DLP chip (0.47″ DMD) and advanced LED light source, rated for an exceptional 30,000 hours of maintenance-free operation, equivalent to over 10 years of hardcore gaming (8 hours per day). The LED lamp with its long lifespan eliminates lamp replacement concerns, runs cooler and quieter, and offers lower energy consumption at the same time. Its 1000 ANSI lumens (a standard for measing brightness by the American National Stands Institute) of brightness make the GamePix 900 suitable for daytime gaming, too. The projector doesn’t compromise on visual fidelity and ensures vivid, accurate colours that bring games and movies to life with 95 per cent of the Rec. 709 colour space coverage. The inclusion of HDMI 2.0 connectivity delivers compatibility with the latest gaming consoles and graphics cards for a full 4K resolution at 60 Hz.

The GamePix 800 Smart transforms gaming spaces with an exceptional 2500 ANSI lumens of LED-powered brightness for gameplay at any time of day, not just at night or with black-out curtains.
